I don’t know why, but I like the romance novels where the woman ends up preggers. Weird… I know. Maybe it’s b/c a baby completes the happy circle.
My take on the debt issue- from an unemployed college grad.
Hey congress. Hi there tiger. How ya doing? You good? K. I know you’re in D.C. trying to hammer out a bill to raise the debt limit while reducing spending and whatnot. But I have a suggestion. Just a little one. How about you Raise the limit and attach a rider setting a time to address the debt issue. That way we won’t default now, and we can work out a debt reduction plan without the looming economic armageddon. Mmk. Just a suggestion.
But before I go- I do have a few comments on this whole “debt reduction” debate to ease the talks.
A. How do expect to reduce debt if you do ONLY spending cuts. You can’t pay down your credit cards or student loans that way, so why would you think it would work for the national debt.
B. Let’s keep it funky: This mess started with the two wars and tax cuts. Flip it how you want- but that’s a SIGNIFICANT reason for the debt. So let’s stop the blame game and move on to mop up the mess we created. We’re all at fault.
C. Here’s a suggestion to you politicians- if you’re worried about getting re-elected, how about you do stuff that…oh idk…that the people want. That includes making sure that Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid are intact- that people have jobs that allow for upward mobility. That people can have access to education and that rights are protected. You do that- you’re good.
Now- if you keep those three things in mind, I have confidence that an agreement can be reached. Put those political strategies aside and do what’s right for the country you claim to love so much. Its what Reagan would have wanted. [That’s for you Republicans ;)].
